 Puppet Presentation

'Once Upon A Time'

Once Upon a Time is a delightful, practical puppet presentation in two parts.

With the help of several of her puppet friends, Marie-Martine demonstrates the magic of turning everyday
objects into wonderfully simple puppets. Characters come to life as polystyrene balls, handkerchiefs and sticks
join to create moving, seeing, talking puppets each with their own personality. Marie-Martine’s vast knowledge
of construction techniques and material choices are matched by her infectious joy in creating a character
using only her imagination and a handful of recycled materials.

In the second section, a cavalcade of Marie-Martine’s and Fabian's fabulous creations with Fabian's original music emerge to play, laugh, dance and generally show off for the audience. Puppets of all shapes, sizes and colours are on display in this musical tribute to creativity and fun.

This presentation will inspire students to create their own puppets which can be used in creative writing
projects with the possibility of putting on their own small play. A detailed materials list and teacher’s guide will
be provided for this purpose.

French and Italian language can be included for LOTE students.

Duration: 45 minutes
Suitability: All ages including libraries and old age care
Cost: $3.50  per head Minimum $230

QUOTES
'Once Upon A Time was a great success with
children of all ages as well as with the
parents. Everyone went home with the idea
of creating their favorite hero and making
up plays for the rest of the holidays'.
Mrs Robyn Hynes, Devonport Lib, Tas

'The puppets have been very popular. The
children from kindergarten to grade six have
thoroughly enjoyed the show and the
creation of the puppets. The French teacher
said "formidable, magnifique! With their
puppets the children have stepped up a
notch and their french is flowing" '.
Mrs Irene Lind, Aranda PS, ACT

'What a success, my year 8 and 9 Italian
students were very reluctant at first but the
puppets worked their magic. They are a
wonderful tool which allows the students to
explore the language. Bravo!'
Mrs Lucia Ciccone, Stromlo High School, Canberra
